The Canadian Mar Thoma Church Toronto Food Bank, managed by the Young Family Fellowship (YFF), was officially inaugurated on Saturday, March 30, 2024. Operated entirely by dedicated YFF volunteers and their families, this vital community initiative is held every second and fourth Saturday of the month, operating as an organized walk-in service in the Seniors Room. The food bank fulfills its core mission of combating local food insecurity by collecting and distributing essential, high-protein, and shelf-stable goods—such as canned meats, fish, beans, lentils, and grains—to more than 20 families during each operational cycle. To guarantee the highest standards of health and safety for all recipients, volunteers strictly inspect every donation to ensure intact seals, valid expiration dates, and undamaged packaging before distribution.
